Friday Fun!

Another "Photography by Hunter" session!
I love pictures like this - they look so much alike. As scary as it is - Quinn is a lot like Hunter
Konnor's new friend, Jack, for the day. Both Cardinals fans - GO CARDS!
Who ever invented monkey bars? They give me nightmares for obvious reasons.
Hunter was so proud of himself
My friend Jenna, eating alongside our, what? 10 kids we had total today between 4 of us? at Ikea! The picture doesn't do it justice..but it was incredibly cute (babies in strollers) - all under the age of FOUR!
Quinn and Hunter's feast
Check out the size of the bucket compared to the faucet....and he's waiting for it to "get fulled up!"

Has anyone ever asked you if you eat your kids? I used to think Sanjog was crazy when he'd ask people....but as the years have gone by and my love for being a Mom has grown even deeper...I have caught myself saying "I just want to eat you up!" more than you can imagine! I just want to eat these guys to pieces - they are so incredibly cute and loving. The unconditional love they have is to die for. Everything about them is amazing. Truly miraculous little beings they are! Really. Hunter as we were getting ready today comes up to me and says, in his cute little baby voice and in all seriousness...."Mommy...does Miss and Piss rhyme?!" Well, Hunter, you bet it does. What's a Mom to say when someone with that adorable little face, long eyelashes, sweet little curious voice approaches you with a question like that?!

Anyway....I love the days that we just get to "play it by ear!" Nothing set in stone planned - don't have to be anywhere at a certain time (other then getting Konnor to school on time but we pretty much have that down pat now!). The boys wanted to swim in the bathtub this morning while I showered so I figured that would consume our whole day considering the amount of swim stuff they drug out and all their swim gear....however, we got showered and cute within about an hours time and off we went to IKEA to hang out with some friends and have lunch. The kids did great - there were 4 of us Mom's and 10 kids total, all under the age of 4. Can I tell you the looks we got? And the kids were all really well behaved..it was just the fact that we took up the entire aisle everywhere we went. Not to mention, we clogged up the kids dining area!

We had some time to kill after lunch so we went to get a tire repaired on the car and lo and behold of course there was a gas station next door so what else would Hunter want to do but to go get some CANDY! So we loaded up on sugar...and off we went to share some with Konnor after school. We first ran home to pack the bikes/scooters/sand toys so we could hit the park up after we grabbed Konnor, because after all it was 78 degrees today! Who would pass up a day at the park?! Konnor made a new friend from the minute we got there. He had his Cardinals shirt on and saw this little guy walking up with one very similar - it was "friends at first sight!" It's been so much fun to see Konnor grow socially - he's a little social bug now. Other than keeping an eye on him, we really didn't see much of him for 2 hours.

We came home, played a quick game of Handy Manny Memory, which might I add, I totally lost. I am so not good at that game...Konnor kicked my butt. He's super competitive so I try my best...but my best wasn't good enough today!

Dinner...bath...and the boys were S.L.E.E.P.I.N.G at 6:58pm! I nearly died. This never happens!

Still planning on running Aunt Steph's school's 5K at the hilly Papago Park tomorrow - did I say running? Yeah...we'll see. I'd like to try...but with a 25 pound stroller filled with 70 pounds of kid...not sure I can prove myself SuperWoman! It'll be fun either way...we love that area and the weather so far this week has been unbeatable.

12 days until Grandma and Jakob arrive....we cannot wait!!!!

Happy 5 1/2 Year Birthday, Konnor!

Could he be any more handsome?!

I am feeling kind of bad because I know my Mom checks this as do a few others on a daily basis...and I have been neglecting it! In all honesty, I have nothing fun or exciting to report!!!! Ugh! Not usually at a loss. I didn't even get any fun pictures of the boys over the past few days. Monday I took Quinn and Hunter in the double jogger on a hill-acious excursion from our house to the park that is about 2.5 miles away. While I was a little nervous they would go crazy on me half way, they did awesome! Awesome on the ride, awesome at the park, and they passed out for the whole ride home. It was perfect! And a wonderful workout with all the hills and extra 90 pounds I was pushing...not to mention, it was one of the three days out of the year that it was windy!

Konnor's been doing awesome in school. They are studying cowboys this week and he made the most adorable cowboy hat at school the other day but I didn't get a chance to snap a picture of him yet. They are getting incredibly excited to watch the Cardinals in the SuperBowl on Sunday - thank goodness they have a good team to cheer on for once!! His reports from his teacher are spectacular to say the least - she adores him and he does wonderful. I can only hope he keeps this up for the next 14 years or so!!

Hunter is learning the letter "H" this week...or so he tells me anyway. Last week was "O" so not sure how they got to H this week but I will take his word for it. He is doing wonderful spelling his name - his teacher said they were going to start working on spelling their names but that she didn't expect them to know how to spell it yet this year...BUT Hunter has beat the odds. He can write, type, scream, text - you name it - he can certainly spell his name anyway he knows how! We, of course, are proud of him too. He has his first parent-teacher conferences next week. I can't wait!

Quinn is 2 going on 12. It is so amusing to watch him chase his brothers around and act like he's as big or bigger than them. He, if I haven't mentioned this on the blog yet, said "You toopid" to me the other day. So, the stupid has now passed on to the baby of the family. He too, thinks his Mom is stupid, when I make him do something he doesn't want to do....such as pick up the brownie he spit out of his mouth off the floor. What a stupid Mommy I am! For now, him saying it is incredibly cute unfortunately. He is full of words....and we especially like to hear him say "I don't wike you!" It's soooo cute. Again, if we do something he doesn't like....or his brothers do something mean...it's "I don't wike you" out of his mouth with some attitude!

Kids are too much fun...especially my own. I love them to pieces.

Will post pictures of any happenings as soon as I can!

A sad goodbye...

A trip to Chuck E Cheese's
Our hike around South Mountain
I forgot to post this the other night...if you look closely, Grandpa, Konnor and Hunter are all in the bottom bunk...Quinn is on the airbed with the blue quilt :) Feel the love!

Well, we had a very dreaded sad goodbye again yesterday. I always dread the day - it always comes way too quickly. Konnor and Hunter actually choke up in tears when my Dad leaves. "Why can't he stay forever" or "How come we can't go with him to Iowa and come back with Grandma and Jake in 21 days?!" I tried to explain to Konnor that time flies when you're having fun to which he responded "I'd rather not have fun and let Grandpa stay here forever!" He's too cute. They truly adore Grandpa - as do I of course. If you all knew my Dad, you would too!

It always takes a good few days to get them back adjusted to life with boring Mommy - but we'll get there with a little extra love and spoiling! It breaks my heart to see them so sad - Konnor literally pulls that "bite on his bottom lip" in an effort to not burst out crying....in which, he usually ends up bursting anyway :(

But, our next countdown is on. Grandma and Jakob arrive in 18 days.......so until then, I'll be hearing "how many more days" more than I could count.

We love and miss you Grandpa! And are soooo excited to see you Grandma and Jake!

Rock N Roll Half Marathon. Done. So, what's next?!

Mile 8.2 - dying for some fuel
About to the kids, my Dad, and Steph
Part of my fan club along the way!
The other part of my fan club minus Steph
The posters they made for me - so cute

Here's a short recap of the big event....big for me anyway!

4:50 am - alarm goes off. What? I just went to bed...literally a few hours ago.

5:30 - out the door and on our way

6:10 - get dropped off downtown...in the dark....eerie feeling but lots of people around! We fortunately had a man with us so we weren't 3 women roaming in downtown Phoenix alone:)

6:12 - near the race, listening to the band. What do we do now? Race doesn't start for more than 2 hours!

In the meantime....we grabbed some bananas, put our chips on our shoes, put our race tags on...and people watched!

8:00 - decide we better use the restroom.

8:01 - WHOA!!! Porta potty jam!!! Thousands and thousands of people lined up to use the facilities.....we waited, and waited and waited. Finally....done. Relieved and ready.

8:25 - head to our corals. I in # 9 - others in 19 and 20-somethings - so time for me to head off on my own. I ended up having to run to my corral and finally just jumped in at 11 b/c everyone was moving already.

Approximately 9am - I ended up starting, the starting clock was at 26 minutes.

We're off! Amazing! Never thought I'd really do it - but I.just.crossed.the.start.line people!!

Takes me about 1-2 miles to "warm up." Steph had let me know they were around mile 2.6 so I made sure I took up a good pace to get to them. Was so fun to see them.

Kept cruising....kept cruising...staring at the wonderful sites of downtown-central Phoenix! Oh wait - I tried NOT to look!

I was doing really well until about mile 6 - then started feeling malnourished - I didn't eat a whole lot. I knew I should but I didn't have much of an appetite. They did not have the water stations in the spots that I needed them so I choked down two little energy beans. They actually worked. At this point, I was still doing about a 9:45 or so minute mile.

Mile 7 - I really have to pee. Port a potty's around? Check. But there's a line and I didn't want to slow down. So I kept cruising. I passed a band somewhere around this point that was a little middle school band playing the song that Hunter "dances" to at preschool chapel - so I got a good laugh. Steph texted me at about 7.6 - that they were around mile 8.2 - YAY! I didn't expect that. I was so thinking about walking but I wanted to get to them as quick as I could. I was slowing down at this point - not walking - just running like I was 80 years old. I probably walked about a total of 2 minutes all together the whole time. When I'd start to walk - I'd see people pass me that were twice my size, or 3 times my age, or that had something on the back of their shirt that read "running in memory of my Mom" or "my beautiful niece".....so I felt compelled to kick it in the butt! Keep in mind - I was also running in honor of my beautiful niece - I just didn't have the gear this time around as I 1) hope to lose more weight before May and 2) wanted another motivator to run another one soon - and who wouldn't love to have a running shirt made that honors their adorable niece?!

Turn the corner to mile 8 - and had this plethora of people yelling "way to go!!! You're almost there!" "It's just around the corner!" Hello, people...at this point, the race is just beginning. We are NOT almost there!

Mile 8.2 - took a nice break to see the kiddos. They were adorable and I had a chance to shove a few bites of banana down and some water. My sister was awesome - she knew just what I needed since she had done this several times before! I always told her it was easier to RUN the race than to spectate with kids. I think she agrees now :)

Was pretty sore at this point. Could feel two of my right toes rubbing together. Gross.

Mile 9 or so - finally got to use the restroom! Whew! Right around mile 9 we started going a little uphill and North which was the opposite way of the finish line....so a little shug of the shoulders going on at this point!

10, 11, & 12 kind of cruised by. I ran most of it - slowly - but I was running...or shall I say jogging? I don't know! Steph texted me that they were near the finish - by the stadium. I was sort of looking around for signs of encouragement - or motivation. I remembered I had gotten this cute little note that my sister Jenna gave me to put in my shoe and think of around "miles 11 and 12" that read " I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." So, in my shoe, and gross as ever - it definitely came to mind at this point. Oddly enough, after I began to think of the verse - I was thinking "man, everyone has all sorts of sayings and 'in memory of's' on the back of their shirts but not once did I ever notice any with Bible verses or signs along the spectator line. No lie - 2 minutes later, I saw a shirt with the exact verse on the back of it AND a sign! Crazy! But true - just when I needed the strength the most - the Good Lord popped up and reminded me that I COULD do it. I certainly didn't want to walk the last few miles or anywhere near the finish line. One foot in front of the other. I kept on going! Knowing that I was lucky to have the ability to run - and to use those legs the way I was! I read a sign around mile 11.5 or so that read "the pain is only temporary!" How true!

Finally, at mile 13 - hearing "you're almost there" was real music to my ears! Woo hoo! Although that .1 mile seemed like 10 - I was indeed, almost there.

2:56 and some seconds on the clock.....DONE! Do the math, according to the clocks I finished in 2:30....but the official time on my chip read 2:38. Either way, I'll take whatever!

It felt great! Finally - something I really wanted to do - didn't necessarily prepare the way I should have - but I did it. Had a massive blister on one of my toes and scratches on my back that looked like a cat got me?! Not sure how I got those but they sting!

We spent the rest of the day eating lunch, then home for a "nap." Well, I didn't actually get a nap b/c I had one child lying in front of me on the couch and the other on top of me - but I got a little rest...and got to see the Cardinals beat the Eagles! GO CARDINALS! How fun is that?!

Then showered, off to church, and I even made dinner. Must have had some major adrenaline going on yet last night I guess! In any case, I slept great last night and wasn't too sore today - just one of my calves hurts pretty bad - but in those 2 hours we waited downtown before it started - you'd think I would've thought to S-T-R-E-T-C-H!!!

Still deciding whether I should do the full in May - I really want to but need to come up with a way to juggle training, motherhood to 3 obnoxious, active little boys - work - and school. In the meantime, I'm going to keep on running! Going to look for another 1/2 that I could run to try to improve my time and train a little harder in between now and May....so stay tuned! I will be finally whipping out my personal trainer gift card I got from Sanjog's Mom over a year ago - (no expiration date:) ).....so looking forward to whatever is next. Whether it be shaving 30 minutes off of another half or making the brutal attempt at a full...I'm excited!

Stay tuned also for more pictures of Grandpa's visit! We're having a blast! Just super busy and had the computer crash two nights in a row so a little behind to say the least.

Thanks for all the well wishes! If anyone's up for running a marathon - let me know!

Reunited at last......

I think it's safe to say that Grandpa is 3, oh wait, 5 little boys' hero! Look at those smiles! He made it and he made it on time - not just on time, but early. Including a layover in Denver so God answered many prayers today as the boys do not like to wait any longer than they planned.

He landed, got his luggage, and we were out of the airport in about 10 minutes. Can't beat that at 8pm! The tradition is to eat at In N Out afterwards - so here they are - post-meal - super excited that Grandpa is here to stay for awhile. Quinn was lovin' on Aunt Stephanie instead!

An update: Konnor did awesome on his book report speech today! He was a tad nervous this morning - restless from about 4am on - and then cried a little - but he came out strong and his teacher even emailed me to let me know how well he did.

I hope he kicks his stage fright early on - b/c either his Mom OR his Dad ever did:) Looks like he's on the right track. Way to go buddy!

Fun at the park - these are for Grandma!!!

Konnor's bike adventure down the hill

Hunter being cute and camera hungry!!

Just a few videos and pictures from the park today! Yes, that's shorts you see on Quinn...we had a wonderful 74 degrees today. Let's hope this weather continues through the week/weekend/next week for Grandpa and the marathon!

Hope the videos work - I haven't uploaded videos for a few years!!

Enjoy!

We are down to the hours....22 hours and counting until Grandpa's arrival. That is...if that Midwest weather allows him to get here on time.

Maybe I'm crazy but this is too cute to not share.....

here you will see Konnor's first book report. Done in Kindergarten at the age of 5! How cute is that?! They were to read the book (which he did on his own for the most part), write down the title and the author and then draw pictures of what it was about in the beginning, middle and the end. While his artwork wasn't top notch b/c he was too excitable it was so incredibly cute!

Now he has to return it and share it with his class tomorrow...or sometime this week. Hopefully tomorrow b/c boy, did we practice! He's definitely got the title down but the author is Michael Tietlebaum. How's a kid to pronounce that name let alone remember it? While he was trying to remember it he looks at me and says "Mom, it's kind of like Michael 'he's the bomb' b/c he wrote a cool book!" Quite creative my friend. Very impressive for him to come up with a way to remember that.

Wish him luck! Standing in front of the class like that in Kindergarten is something I couldn't even do in high school! Go Konnor :)

A+ Baby!

http://www.locustlane.ecasd.k12.wi.us/images/ReportCard.jpg

We got it! Konnor's very first report card came home yesterday. Although you know it's going to be perfect, it is still so fun, exciting and CUTE. The grade levels are "E - uses skills effectively, P is making progress and N needs more time and support." Well, let me just say he has NO N's of course, a few P's (in which his teacher stated that there will probably be mostly P's, BUT Konnor has mostly E's! Yay!! At least we are doing something right in this household!

The teacher comments read:
Konnor is a true sweetheart.
It has been very exciting to watch his progress this year not only in all academic areas but socially too. His confidence has grown so much. I can't wait to see how much further Konnor will go over the next semester with his reading!

To brag a little more, I volunteer often in his classroom and he is always so good. His teacher one day was having "one of those days" and she looked at me and said "why can't I have a classroom full of Konnor's! Life would be so easy!"

But hey, those naughty ones and the class clown always keep things exciting, don't they?!

Great job, Konnor Rhysburger! We are so proud of you!

I suppose I better also mention that the kid has missed 9 out of 97 days too :( In our defense, it was a trip to Iowa and a trip to California. According to our calendars he has only missed 6 so I'm looking into this issue!! Last thing I need is for him to have a record like his Mother's!!

1 more day for Grandpa's arrival....and Grandma and Jakob just got their tickets for their February visit. We are all so very excited!!!

Thank goodness there is always a "last minute!"

http://imgsrv.kmle108.com/image/kmle/UserFiles/Image/PFchangs07.gif

Amidst a busy day of church, socializing with my sister at Baja Fresh, and then digging into my huge pile of books and softwares, I nearly forgot to register for the marathon. Online registration closes tonight at 11:59PST, it is currently 10:15 here, so I guess 9:15 PST. Fees go up $15 after tonight so hello, nothing like waiting until the last minute. I wanted to make sure I had a good strong run yesterday before I signed myself up for complete torture or embarrassment. Lo and behold, I impressed myself and had today yet to register, officially. I then went to sign Konnor up for the kids fun run on Saturday, but the stinkin' thing is closed for Kindergartners! I thought they usually tell you if there's a limit? Elite racing got a nice email from me. We'll see if they feel sorry for me and my child who was been "waiting MONTHS to run this to be like his Mommy who is running the following day!" Ha. I doubt it, but worth a try, right? Seriously, do they have to limit a FUN run of 30-40 pound Kindergartners? How much space can they really take up? Goodness.

I think I'm calling it quits for the day. It's only progressively gone downhill since the day began....I will hope for a better day tomorrow :)

Oh, the money I would pay!

http://www.mamakk.com/wp-content/CheapCollegeTextbooks.jpg

I'm drowning in a pile of books.....yes, school books that is. No, not Konnor's. Mine. They surround me but for several hours I've managed to pretend they weren't there. I see them but what in the heck are they?!!

Ugh! And trying to install all the software for labs - Math lab and Bio lab - this crap is for the birds! Who in their right mind knows how to install all of this crap properly? To top it off, I'm using a Mac laptop and I haven't used a Mac for 100 years. I'm so confused.

Good thing is - looks like a lot of interesting material once I dig in, however, before I can dig in I have a million things to set up and familiarize myself with first. Looks like my days of procrastinating are over. Time management - here I come.

My jobs now consist of full-time Mom, full-time student, full-time employee, full-time wanna be marathon runner in May, and full-time no-lifer.

Oh, the money I would pay to have someone do all of this for me! The school that is....no money could pay for the full-time Mom position of course.

Back to it........

3 days and counting....I asked Konnor tonight if he was excited for school tomorrow, he totally ignored me and said "I'm sooo excited to come back to your house in 1 day and for Grandpa to come in 3 days." Who needs school when they have Grandpa, right?!

My baby is all grown up!

Just a few pictures of Quinn - all I had and had a minute to post! The last one is Quinn asleep on the couch at 8:00am already - after dropping Konnor off at school and getting the boys from Sanjog, he wanted to watch "shoo shoo's" and here he is...5 minutes later. Zonked out - for 2 hours. I woke him so we could go to the park!

He is almost 2 but going on 5. I had a lady comment one day that "he wants to be like the other 2 in all the worst ways!" And boy was she right on! He literally has to do everything on his own. Which for the most part causes disasters but I can't blame him. Mom just spends a lot of time cleaning and watching tantrums!!!

He needs to eat on his own, with a big fork and spoon - I cannot offer him anything in baby form or he will go crazy. He won't wear his own diapers at night - he wears pull ups b/c the other two do. Much of the time he runs to Konnor and Hunter's closet and drawers to get dressed - he wants to wear their clothes, their shoes, their socks, their underwear! He tries to buckle himself into his carseat - thinks he can ride a two wheel bike with no help - and I even found him one day trying to pee on the potty. Unfortunately - I don't so much mind my baby in diapers!! Heck - he can stay in them until he's 5 - he's my baby, right?!

Anyway, the reason I thought to post this this morning is b/c when I dropped Hunter off at school this morning - Quinn parks it in a chair right next to Hunter, as always - and does exactly what all the preschooler's do. Although this isn't unusual, he thought he was staying for preschool too. I went to give Hunter a kiss and he gave me one. I backed away a little to grab Quinn and before I could get to it he says "I kiss! I kiss!" He wanted a kiss. And then he waved "goodbye!" He would totally stay if I let him.

Funny how they've each gotten easier. Konnor, even into year 2 of preschool, fought his hardest in the mornings to not have to get up, not have to get dressed, wasn't going to get in the car - etc...it was a battle even once we got there. He'd cry. And contest.

Hunter cried here and there the first week or two but nothing significant. I think he just cried b/c he thought he was supposed to! He never argues anymore -he always wants to go.

Quinn, at the ripe old age of 22 months, would run away if he could!! We might just end up sending one of our kids to preschool at 2 years old next year - he is soooo bored without the other two around anyway he just sleeps!

2 more months and he's 2. No more babies.....just 3 little MEN.

like Mother, like Son

What a fun morning trying to get Konnor to go back to school! I think he came up with having more illnesses today than I ever knew existed!! He even tried to bring his hacking cough back up to full speed in an effort to not have to go today. Sound like anyone else you know, Mom?!!

I dreaded this morning...after a fun weekend, I knew I was going to struggle to get Konnor to want to go back to school. Nothing I say ever matters. Not even reminding him that his last day of school before break he said "Mommy, I love school. Why do I have to have break? I want to go to school EVERY day!" That didn't matter. His response was "I've been on break way way way too long. I don't like school anymore. I'm not going." I usually let them sleep in to the max in the mornings - so prying him out of bed today was interesting. He's a bear from the start.

Needless to say, we made it to school. And off he went with a smile, just as I tried to tell him he would.

You see, I used to do this all the time! I still do when the thought of school comes to mind! I literally tried to drop out of 1st grade. I think I ended up getting an insane amount of answers wrong on a math test at the time - and I was embarrassed. I would sit outside my classroom and cry until they had my Mom come pick me up. I remember sitting on the couch in the mornings telling her every illness I had that morning - and I clearly remember her threatening to take me to the doctor - and I didn't even care most of the time. I'd kick and scream - they'd haul me off to the bus. It must have been a nightmare for them! In high school I was 2 under the allotted days you could miss before failing that school year.

Oh, how "paybacks" are already kicking in full swing!

Thanks, Mom!!!!

Bouncin' Around!

We had a fun, uneventful weekend. Kept low key trying to rid of these awful dry coughs that seem to never go away! No more fevers but these coughs are horrible! We had to get out on Saturday for awhile so we went to a park in Chandler called Playtopia. Every little boys dream - a huge barn, farm themed park with tons and tons of sidewalk to ride your bike on. It even has a little "CityLand" that has the sidewalks painted like roads and stop signs, speed limit signs, and everything like the "real" road! The boys enjoyed themselves. As did I! It is definitely on our "to-do with Grandpa" list!

Picked Steph up from the airport Saturday evening and contained ourselves to the house on Sunday in an effort to relax and prepare to go back to school. Played many more board games, Wii, and ate lots of food! Mom almost went crazy - but I think the boys needed a good rest. Coughs seem to be pretty minimal and we got to bed and sleeping at a halfway decent time.

Enjoy.
