So I very excitedly picked up the boys today thinking we could come home, relax, chill, enjoy each other's company, let them catch up a little and then go out for pizza or something.....well, what was I thinking? They wanted to go to Taco Bell, right now! So..I gasped...ugh. I wasn't hungry and certainly wasn't in the mood for Taco Bell at 4:oo pm. I ordered for them - they ate - and Konnor wanted dessert when he was finished, which of course at Taco Bell is Cinnamon Twists. I told him to go by Sanjog (he was up by the counter at the time) and I gave him $2.00. Next thing I know, Sanjog is back at the table and Konnor is ordering "cinnamon twists please" all by himself! Barely able to see over the counter and he so politely handed her $2.00...and I believe they are only like $.79.
It was truly one of those bittersweet moments. My baby is growing up. And he's growing up fast. This is huge for Konnor b/c he tends to be a little shy and just a week ago absolutely refused to ask the lady behind the counter for a water cup all on his own let alone help himself to the counter, make an order, pay for it, grab the change, grab the goods and walk away!
I keep telling my friends this is an incredible age. He's no longer very needy at all...and is already getting to that "really Mom?" stage. He thinks he knows more then we do and he tends to behave in such a way sometimes. But come on, he's 5 1/2....making friends of his own....and is now away from us 5 days out of the week at school. Pretty scary how fast these little guys grow up.
I just want to freeze them. Since I know I can't, I'm going to cherish every bit of it!! He's already had the discussion with me that he'll "take care of me when I get old like Pati and Tata take care of Big Pati!" (that is Grandpa and Grandma and Great-Grandma on Sanjog's side).
You're turning into a little man, Konnor. It's so fun to see you grow and become your own little person. While it's a little frightening for Mommy, it's bittersweet. I know you are going to grow into an incredible little man and I so look forward to watching it all happen over the years to come.
You rock little Man! And so do your brothers :)
Oh, and needless to say, we went from Taco Bell straight to the park until dark. Who needs rest, relaxation and a nice fun dinner out with Mom after a 7 day trip to Seattle? Apparently not the Gopal boys!
Halloween!
