I was about to cut up an onion last Friday night to eat with the burgers Aunt Jenna made for us. Konnor came up and said "what's that" to which I responded "an onion. I'll give you $10 if you take a bite out of it." He didn't think twice..all his little brain heard was $10 and bam, he took a huge bite out of the onion, chewed it up and swallowed it like nothing! I, of course, very hesitant to keep the bet on thought "hello, you just made a bet and he won. Give him the $10 and learn your lesson!!!" So....as I choked, I handed him two $5 bills and so the story goes. He spent it wisely buying a $7 plane at the airshow that resembled The Thunderbirds. In addition to that, he bought Anneke, Quinn and Hunter all the smaller $1 planes. I was extremely proud of him and it was a $10 well spent - however, I've learned to make lower bets from now!
Sunday I got to run with a new running partner. I didn't get any pictures but it was an extremely fun run for me. My Dad wanted to take the kids to Desert Foothills Park which is right down the street....about 2.3 miles. I thought I could get in a good run by running there while he drove them. Konnor, much to my surprise, wanted to run with me! I couldn't say "no" although I knew it wouldn't be the run I was hoping for. But I couldn't pass up some one on one time with him. We raced up the hill (which is about 3/4 of a mile to the top) and he did awesome. He was super proud of himself. From then on, he was kind of a stinker ("I'm thirsty" or "how much further") but it was some quality one on one time that I really enjoyed. At times he even chose to hold my hand which was super cute. You see, I run this run often - almost always by myself - so it was extremely special to have my 5 1/2 year old along my side - even if the last 1.5 miles I was carrying him on my back or shoulders! Thank you Konnor! It was one of those days Mommy will never forget!
The rest of the pictures are just some odds and ends from my Dad and Anneke's visit. The kids love to bowl and mini-golf so lucky for them, we got to do both while Grandpa was here.
Enjoy!
